ABOUT US

Backyard1_small.jpg

My name is Evan and I am the 300 IQ mastermind behind Black Map Artistry. I don't want to make a sterilized statement that's filled to the brim with words like "excellent" and "incredible" like a resume, so let me tell you what's up. I want to support budding artists and I want to inspire creative thoughts. I want to help entry-level artists enter the economy of art. I envision a future where art careers are accessible and content creators themselves are in the drivers seat.

I think the starving artist trope is tired because it was created before all the infrastructure that exists today. There are so many websites and applications that help people get their business and their artwork to the public. Today, you can stream the creation of music on Twitch. You can create a podcast in which you draw with Krita on YouTube. You can take commissions on Patreon. You can sell jewelry on Etsy. In fact, there is free, open source software for 2D drawing, 3D drawing, animation, music, recording, streaming, and coding. It brings me joy to see my favorite content creators successfully cultivate an audience, monetize them, and flourish as an artist.

Maybe you don't care about monetizing an audience. Fair enough. I don't blame you. Black Map Artistry sells art supplies through Amazon. We test these products ourselves, assemble the kits, and take the pictures. I only want to sell products that are high quality and intriguing. Take the UV acrylic paint for example. I tried to draw a picture out of my novel - a bio-luminescent beach. Having the plankton and the fireflies glow under black light adds a new dimension that wasn't there before.  I think it adds value to and I hope you'll agree.
